Bariloche, Planting, Egg Lab, Rehearsals, and EWES!

Bariloche, Planting, Egg Lab, Rehearsals, and Everyone Writes, Everyone Shares (EWES)!

Highlights: (See 34 pictures below!) This week we had the Sister Cities crew from Bariloche, Argentina visiting! We served them all American Chips Ahoy and Oreos! They loved them. The Argentinian students paired up with our Ks, and the Ks read to them. It was a very sweet visit.

Our musical rehearsals and the crawl through on Friday went very well. The Ks are on top of it, and the performance will be spectacular!

On Thursday afternoon we had our second session of “Everyone Writes, Everyone Shares.” This was a wonderful time for the Ks to share their poems with older students, and for older students to share with younger ones.

On Friday afternoon, Lisa Kohlhepp, Jenny Jones, and Molly Haberman joined us to help the Ks plant seeds for the garden, and to participate as scientists in an “Egg Lab.”

Literacy: We have started end of year reading assessments which are going well. We wrote poems this week, and they are awesome! You will see them displayed at the Wheeler.

Wellness: Casey introduces the Courage tool with our Bariloche students watching intently. Literature was integrated.

Math: Unit 7 is going well with our collection of data and lots of counting by 2s.

Science: Chicks, eggs, planting seeds!

Homework: Reading books (please help your child find time to read these books at least 3 times while they are home); Math: a classmate’s story problem – we are having a lighter homework week by design.

Gratitude: Thank you Charlotte, Sarah, and Brian for the wonderful snacks! Thank you Michelle Bassi for organizing and putting on another memorable “Everyone Writes, Everyone Shares.” Thank you Lisa K., Jenny J., and Molly H. for helping with our special science centers on Friday. Thank you Jeffie for setting up El Tioga for us on Friday! Thank you Sister Cities and Bariloche students!
