Quote of the Week: Chosen by Melissa ~ “We carry within us the wonders we seek around us.” by Sir Thomas Browne
Geology rocks! Last week started a science unit to learn more about Earth’s geologic treasures. This week we explored rocks and minerals as geologists. They described each rock or mineral by color, texture, and luster. Then, checked if it was magnetic, acidic (with drops of vinegar), and it’s hardness (using a scale of fingernail, penny, nail). Next week we will discover the 3 different rock types and how they are classified.
Research Teams –
We have reached the second bend of our non-fiction reading unit, which is particularly exciting because the students have begun working in research teams to study a natural disaster. Ask your child what natural disaster they are studying and who their team is.
Author’s Visit –
We had a special visit today from author Kat Kronenberg. She wrote a wonderful picture book titled, Dream Big, and her next one, Love Big, is in the works. Kat presented her book at our All School Meeting and then visited our writing classes to talk about the writing process. Kids were asking about her website, so here it is https://katkronenberg.com
