This past week the focus was on gratitude. After hearing two different books called Giving Thanks the Ks talked about what they were grateful for. Then they wrote and illustrated their ideas. Many of the Ks wrote that they were grateful for family, friends, pets, the moon, trees, and the stars. They Ks also happily made cards for Jim stating what they appreciated about him. They said that they liked Jim because “he listens to them, says good morning, watches them on the playground, joins them for lunch, and does cool things like climbing.” Can you imagine enthusiastically writing your principal at age six? We are so grateful having Jim guide and lead us.

Gratitude: Thank you, Celeste and Emirah for the snacks.  Thank you Yosefa for helping out on Friday. Thank you all for sharing your wonderful children with us. Thank you all for helping out in a myriad of ways.

Upcoming Dates: Friday, 12/1 Vision & Hearing tests, Thursday 12/7 Cookie Sale, 12:20-12:45, Wednesday 12/13 K-4 Winter Festival, Friday 12/15 Filling the Gift Bags, Thursday 12/21-Thursday 1/4 Winter Break

Volunteer Support: Connecting to our kindness theme, we will read books such as The Quilt Maker’s Gift and The Circle of Friends. We will have discussions around the question: What can we do to bring joy to needy moms and their babies who live in the  Roaring Fork valley? We will show pictures of what the kindergarten has done in the past and encourage this K class  to create a school wide drive to put together gift bags for the moms and their babies. The bags will go to the Family Visitor Center in Glenwood Springs.

We would appreciate your help with the following:

Send in donations with your child as soon as reasonably possible, by the latest on Thursday 12/14 3:00 PM:

  • Gifts for the moms warm hats, gloves, socks, scarves, body wash, bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner,  moisturizers, nail polish, nail files for the mother
  • Gifts for the babies Books, stuffed animals

Have your child put the donations in the marked boxes in the school entrance area.

Help run a bag decorating station on any afternoon and at 10:30 on Wednesdays.

Support the cookie sale on Thursday, December 7th. The money raised would be sent to The Family Visitor Center to purchase City Market gift cards. In order to do this we’d need your help. Paradise Bakery donated 100 cookies.

  • We need 2 volunteers to make 2 dozen cookies for the sale. .
  • We need 2  Volunteers to layout & sort the cookies at 12:10 and then sell the cookies during the lunch hour from 12:20-12:45

Help layout all the donated items on Thursday, December 14th between 3:00 -5:00 PM in the central area.

Help deliver the boxes to The Family Visitor Center in Glenwood on Friday, December 15th.

We’d like to have a volunteer  help out on Friday, 12/1 ideally from 8:00-2:00.  However, if you are only free part of the time, that would be okay.

Please let us know if you can help.

With gratitude,

Annie and Margaret
