Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, everyone!

We have a super short newsletter for you this week. We felt we had the chance to fully spray you down with 1-2 information during our Back to School Night, and we figure you’re probably at information capacity at this point!

Thought #1: Thank you for coming to Back to School Night. We are so lucky to have you on our team.

Thought #2: There is a new Toolbox tool in your kiddo’s homework folder this week. It’s the Listening Tool, and here’s how we approach it:

  • We hear things all the time, but we don’t always listen. The Listening Tool teaches us to listen with our ears, our eyes, and our hearts. Although it is easy to listen on the surface, it is much more difficult to listen actively, especially when we are angry, upset, or stressed. Even without conflict, we are often only half-listening, and our thoughts can easily wander somewhere else. But, with practice and a willing heart, we can become active, responsive listeners who use our ears, eyes, hearts, and minds to make meaning out of what we hear – from others and from ourselves. When we really get the message, we can respond in a caring and meaningful way.

Thought #3: A couple shots from our week at school…

Ask your 1st grader about singing the Better Alphabet Song to Rasheed!

Have a wonderful weekend. We’ll see you and/or your fabulous child back in the classroom on Monday morning.
