The third and fourth grade students have been working on creating a published bilingual book to send to an after-school center, El Centro De Amistad Y Apoyo, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The center helps children in grades K-7. Last year the 3rd and 4th graders donated their book order points to order books in Spanish for the center. This year, they are publishing and writing their own stories. Your child is helping to build a library for kids that have very little access to books.
The books that are going to Bolivia have been paid for by a grant from Think360Arts. If you would like to purchase your child’s book, you can. An order form will be coming home with your child’s homework next Monday. These must be returned, even if you are not ordering, no later than February 12. All order forms must be signed and returned to be able to qualify for free shipping. There is a box to check at the bottom to indicate that you do not want to order. Please contact Lynne or Mandi if you have any questions.
Here is a letter from one of the teachers at the center:
I took this picture today in my classroom of two of my kids reading one of the books your school sent down (or maybe your kids?). They LOVE that book (kind of a comic book type) and beg to read it whenever they finish their work. I just wanted to thank you again for all the work you did to get us more books and resources for The Center. What a gift that keeps on giving!
love to you all,
