Let it Snow…
Highlights: We jump started the week with an incredible baking center on Tuesday morning with Clementine’s mom and grandma. (See below!) Huge thanks to those ladies for giving up a morning to come help us. We hope you all enjoyed the bread! We ended the week with lots of sharing of our writing and a project with our 7th grade buddies!
Wellness: We completed a fun project with our 7th grade buddies to get to know them a bit better. We will put up the quilt we made together in the Central Area before the show on Weds. Have a look! Also for homework we are finishing cards to our buddies. Here we are with them:
More courage was practiced in the many sharings that happened this week, both in the classroom and at All School Meeting. Check it out:
Finally, here is the “Balance Tool” in action – these two cuties helped each other, and the whole class, finish cleaning after choice totally on their own:
Literacy: We taught more of Mabel’s friends how to read snap words, and we continued to practice CVC nonsense words. We continue to progress and move up levels in reading, and we learned how to do a retelling this week. Retellings are when we ask someone to share what the read in a story in the corrct sequence, and also with as much detail as possible. This helps with comprehension. In writing we wrapped up narrative writing!!! We will start “How-To” books next week!
Math: We are finished with Unit 3! Starting Unit 4 next week…stay tuned!
Homework: Reading, finish making a card for 7th grade buddies, play “Double Compare” in math
Gratitude: Thank you Clementine, Christy, and Rita for the amazing snacks, and for helping make the zucchini bread project a huge success! Thank you 7th graders for being such awesome buddies.
Special Events: Please remember to collect donations to fill our boxes for our family giving project! The last day to donate will be Dec. 10!
HELP NEEDED: We will organize donation items right after school on Tuesday to prep for the placing of items in bags on Wednesday. If anyone can stick around after pick up and help with this organization, it would be greatly appreciated.
Krysten has had many people volunteer to help on Wednesday morning – thank you for those of you who offered to help with that.
ALL School Read In/PJ Day will be from 10:30-11:50 on Wednesday, Dec. 18. It is also PJ day, so please encourage Ks to jump out of bed and come to school without changing out of PJs! The Read In starts with the meeting of multi-age small groups in assigned classrooms, followed by silent reading in the Central Area, followed by a special presentation by Casey! OH…please have your child bring a new favorite book for this day. It can be a holiday book, but doesn’t have to be.
Snack King will be Wylder for the week of Dec. 9th!
*We don’t have anyone to provide snack for the week of Dec. 16 or Jan. 7. Please let us know if you could be snack king or queen for that week.
