Dear 1/2 families,
We hope that you had a wonderful, fulfilling, restful, and fun holiday break with your family. I think we were all ready for a little rest and time to rejuvenate before starting the second part of the school year. The snow certainly provided a beautiful backdrop for this break! We would like to thank you all for the wonderful holiday gifts. We certainly love to work with you and your children…that in itself is a gift!
Taryn and I met over the break to plan for the upcoming second half of the year and we are excited about what’s in store for the New Year! A few things to look forward to are the start of our Writing Unit in January, the 100th Day of School in February, Big Event in March, Person, Place, or Thing projects in May, and of course, our Spring ODE trip to Highline Lake on May 18th – 20th! We are also planning on a few additional field trips and will be certain to let you know as we secure dates.
We look forward to seeing you all back to school this Tuesday! (Monday is a teacher work day). We are enthusiastic to get started by reconnecting with one another and sharing our favorite things about our experiences over break. We will refresh our routines and share our favorite things about our classroom contract to revive our roles as members of our community and 1st/2nd grade learners. Additionally, we will pairing your children with some very special reading buddies as we strive to inspire your children to read at home every night for 20 minutes. It’s a secret until Friday!
Our wish for you all is that you can enjoy these last couple days with your children and that your family is excited to start back to school on Tuesday, January 7th! See you all soon!
Angie & Taryn
